If you want to spruce up your home during the Holidays (God, I hope you got the pun), live greens are the way to go! And guess what? Boxwood is the perfect choice for several reasons: it's super easy to find, a breeze to harvest, and it dries beautifully.
A helpful hack: Make sure to soak your boxwood clippings for a day or so, and then spread them out on a dish towel for a couple of hours. This ensures that your wreath will stay alive longer. If you don't have time, don't worry about it. It dries green and beautiful anyway!

- Boxwood Branches
- Grapevine Wreath, I used 14"
- Floral Wire
- Wire Cutters
- Cute Ribbon
Step 1.
Go to town and clip until your heart's content. We will only be using the tips of the boxwood, so keep that in mind when clipping.
Step 2.
Snip off the ends into roughly 4-6" long pieces.
Step 3.
Soak your greens for 24 hours, then remove them from the water and let them dry on a dishtowel. If you don't want to soak them to prolong their life, simply skip this step.
Step 4.
Gather around 5 clippings of boxwood in a full, lush bunch. Secure them together by wrapping floral wire around the bottom.
Step 5.
Secure the grapevine wreath with additional floral wire. Do this however works best. I prefer inserting the bunch into the wreath to ensure it holds, then adding a loop of floral wire to secure it in place.
Step 6.
Next, create another bunch. Repeat Steps 4 and 5, then lay that bunch over the stems of the previous bunch until the grapevine wreath is fully covered. Keep the bunches going in the same direction for the desired look.
Step 7.
If you notice any holes, simply cut a few 4-inch pieces of boxwood and securely tuck them into the grapevine wreath to close the gaps.
Step 8.
Hang your wreath with a command strip or nail. I always like to secure my wreath first and then add the ribbon so it appears to be hanging from it, without actually using the ribbon as the main hanging device.
There you go! Now you look like you've got your sh*t together for the holidays! Because no one would dare walk into your house, see your live greenery, and think otherwise.
Merry Christmas!
