A solo vacation, a hike with my cousin and all the links in between.

A nook in the Breakfast Room at The Homestead Resort

I must admit, taking a solo vacation wasn't originally my plan. However, Jereme, being the astute person he is, took the initiative to book the trip for me. Not only did he organize everything, but he did it in such a way that left me without any valid excuses to decline. Smart man.

I discovered the sheer delight of solo travel on this trip, defying my previous reservations about not having a companion to share the fun moments with. My destination was The Homestead, a luxurious yet approachable resort nestled in the breathtaking Blue Ridge Mountains. I indulged in long hikes, savored meals at my own leisurely pace, lounged by the pool, and even had the exhilarating experience of hunting with a falcon. Each I finished each day with a sparkling glass of champagne on their grand front porch.

Oh, did I feel guilty for leaving my partner with our 4-year-old? Yes, of course. But I got over it somewhere in between a trip on the lazy river and the evening glass of champagne.

The day I arrived at The Homestead I was sporting this adorable Black Dress With Shoulder Bows, and its a steal for only $44.

The location of my solo trip was the beautiful, enchanting Homestead Resort.

My first evening I dawned the Mint Green Eyelet Dress by Anne Taylor. Fits like a dream and is beautifully lined! Can't say enough good things about it!

Paired with the Mint Green Dress I wore these Satin Bow Sling Backs, low heel and comfortable! Oh, did I mention affordable, hello $39 cute shoe bargain!

To meet Peanut the falcon I needed the right outfit. I went with this classic Crisp White Shirt by Anne Taylor and my favorite pair of "active" sandals, these Dr. Scholls Strappy Sandals. They are chic enough to pair with a dress and give you all the support you need for light walking.

Lets not forget the perfect falcon-meeting earring. Designed by my friend Jordan from her company Oui Chef, Pétanque Gold Hoops

As they say, its always better to be over dressed than under. I took that sentiment to Bacova Beer Company a micro brewery nestled in the town of Hot Springs, Virginia. It was my last day of vacation and I hadn't yet worn these beautiful Bedazzled Statement Earrings, so to the brewery I went! You can walk to it from The Homestead so go ahead and have that second beer!

Later in the week my cousin met me to hike Humpback Rock, she was patient as I had a mild panic attack at the top but I did it...and then I needed a glass of wine so we grabbed sandwiches from Greenwood Grocery before heading over to King Family Vineyard.
