If I have said it once...

I have said it a dozen times. There is quite literally nothing better than the taste and smell of a fresh garden-picked, homegrown, tomato. As we near the end of the warmer season we find ourselves in that sweet spot; perfectly ripe tomatoes, cooler kitchens, and cravings for a casserole-style comfort dish.


In essence, it's the PERFECT time for Tomato Pie.


Some of yall reading this might be sitting there scratching your heads, thinking WHY in the world would anyone dare to make a pie out of tomatoes? But don't worry your pretty little mind. This delightful medley of a flaky, buttery pie crust, luscious garden-ripe tomatoes, and savory cheeses creates a delectable comfort food that once tasted can never be forgotten.

Its hard to express how much I LOVE Cavender's Greek Seasoning. I literally use it weekly in everything from roasted chicken to pasta salad.


I am not sure when I discovered a preference but when I go to make a savory pie I much prefer to put it in a tart dish. I feel like the shape helps to give ample room for the filling and more surface area for the cheesy topping.
